Windows 10 Flickering Fix - by: FcUK_A
After searching the web and having a fiddle with my files I've got a kind of permant fix for RvS not using window mode either !!

I had the same issue with OGR and found a fix on the Ghost recon site which then took me on to the site which created the orignal program which is used for better graphics and rendering etc.

It uses a ProxyLibrary so when you put the files in your Rvs System folder rather than goto DX12 on your WIndows 10 machine it goes off to pick up a DX9 dll file and lets you the play the game as normal. So yes DX12 on W10 is the cause of the problem !!.

Download the below zip file, just drop the d3d8.dll and enbconvertor config file into the RvS System folder, start the game and job done !. There does seem to be a bit of jerky graphics now and again but its more playable than it is in window mode ! If i can fix that issue as well I'll let people know.

Stutter Fix

1)Disable Raven Shield VSYNC
2)Run the game with one core

I know that those solutions have already been posted, but I realized that you have to do BOTH of them for the game to actually always work.

So here is detailed info on how to do those 2 things:


Go to your RavenShield/System/ folder and open ravenshield.ini

Search for the vsync in the text file, and you will find an entry &quot;UseVSync=True&quot;. Change it to &quot;UseVSync=False&quot;. Save and close the file.

Go to your ATI/NVIDIA Control Panel and make sure that the vertical synchronization or vertical refresh is to the option OFF or Application Specific.

That's the first part of fixing it.

You can do it with 2 ways:

Either disable one core by Alt-Tabbing out when the game is open, going to the Task Manager, going to the Processes, right-clicking to the ravenshield.exe from the list and selecting &quot;set affinty&quot;, and deselecting CPU 0.

or the recommended way so you don't have to do this each time you start the game:

Go to your raven shield folder (not the system), and create a text file there. Open with notepad and paste this:

cd system
start /affinity 01 ravenshield.exe

and save the file as &quot;fixedstart.bat&quot; or whatever .bat

Now by double clicking on this file will start the game single-core. You can create a shortcut for this to your desktop for easy launching.]]>

In SP it lines up fine (or if you're running a non-standalone server and happen to be playing on it). I rescaled some static meshes to fit but the scaling doesn't work over MP, so I'll have to make a new set of meshes for the doors and frames (although I also rescaled the stairs which fit just right)

Also, the terrorists don't want to spawn on my standalone server, but they work if I use the in-game one. If it works on the FcUK server then I just need a better install of the server I think :)

First one looks easy to fix. Not sure why the second one is happening but will investigate (ought to be easy enough to just copy the spawns from a working stock map)

Getting good feedback re: FPS outside so I may not block off any more windows unless anyone complains.]]>

Lockdown will feature traditional Rainbow Six multiplayer modes, such as team adversarial, cooperative mission, free for all, and terrorist hunt. One notable change that White told us is that terrorist hunt can now feature a timer, which changes the dynamics of that mode dramatically. In terrorist hunt, players find themselves pitted against up to 30 randomly placed terrorists on a level. In earlier Rainbow Six games, the lack of a timer meant that the players advanced at the speed of a crawl and slowly cleared each area of hostiles before moving on. But now that there's a timer, the pressure is going to be on and risks will have to be taken if a team wants to win. It's a simple addition, but it adds a lot to the gameplay.

There are also a couple of notable new multiplayer modes. The first is rivalry, which White described as, &quot;the most far-out there from previous versions (of Rainbow Six) that we've had.&quot; Rivalry is a team-based mode, with one team playing as Rainbow commandos and the other team playing as mercenaries (traditionally in Rainbow Six, both teams usually play as commandos, though in different-colored uniforms, of course). White says there are three variations of rivalry mode, two of which will seem familiar if you've played any Counter-Strike games. The first is a bomb mode, where the mercenaries have to place a bomb on an objective, while Rainbow has to stop them. Failing that, Rainbow can try to disarm the bomb in time to still win the mission. The second mode is hostage. Rainbow has to get hostages to safety, while the mercenaries want to capture them. White says this mode is very much like capture the flag, except you don't capture the hostages so much as the hostages follow you. The third mode, however, is the most interesting, because it's geared toward getting players to work together. Mercenaries have to hack into a series of computers, while Rainbow is tasked with protecting the computers. The twist is that the computers have to be hacked in order, and once a computer is hacked, the next one has to be hacked just seconds afterward. This makes it impossible for one player to go from computer to computer, because there's not enough time. The mercenaries need to cooperate and work together in order for them to succeed. Meanwhile, the second new mode is retrieval, in which one side battles to retrieve an object, while the other side battles to stop them.

Lockdown for the PC will support up to 16 players, which is about par for previous PC Rainbow Six games. All the single-player missions are playable in multiplayer, but there are some extra multiplayer-only maps as well. Three classic Rainbow Six multiplayer maps chosen by the fans have been refurbished for Lockdown. The popular 747 level from Rainbow Six: Rogue Spear is back, and the interiors of the jumbo jet have never looked better. As Rogue Spear veterans know, this is a great level because it features wide-open kill zones on the airport runway, but then degenerates into close-quarters combat in the tight confines of the 747. Then there's bunkers, which is the popular trenches level, and it looks even better than before, thanks to the new graphics engine. Finally, mint from Rainbow Six: Raven Shield is also back, though we didn't get a chance to see this one in action. In addition to those levels, we can expect that many of the multiplayer-only levels created for the console versions will also be included in the PC version, revamped, of course, for the PC.

We got a chance to play a few rounds in multiplayer. Unfortunately, there weren't too many opponents to shoot. Still, we got yet another chance to check out the game in action. It makes sense that Lockdown looks better than Rainbow Six: Raven Shield (the last major PC release), as there are now graphical features, like high dynamic-range lighting, which really make a dramatic difference when it comes to lighting and shadowing. Apart from all the eye candy, though, there is the fast-paced and intense action that is Rainbow Six multiplayer. As usual, a nice, short burst from an automatic rifle can ruin your day, and, indeed, we died many times at the hands of White (who admitted that his job is to practically play the game nine hours a day, so he had something of an advantage on us). But this just gave us an opportunity to check out one of the nice new features in multiplayer, which is the ability to choose your respawn point. We also like the new grenade system. In most first-person shooters, throwing a grenade is something of a crapshoot because it's hard to gauge the grenade's path. Often, it'll end up hitting something and bouncing back at you. In Lockdown, just hold down the Throw Grenade key and a series of range circles appear, showing you the grenade's arc through the air as well as where it will land. Now you can toss grenades without fear.

In general, we came away with very favorable impressions of Lockdown. Rainbow Six has always been a strong franchise on the PC, and it appears that Lockdown will be a worthy successor. The PC version of Lockdown is currently in the final stages of development, and White says that they expect to complete the game in the next two weeks, which puts it on track to reach store shelves sometime in early February.]]>

RSE-Devs ] depending on the game mode- ctf and rivalry have respawns on, team deathmatch can be played with them on or off. Coop games can also be played with or without respawns allowed. theres a force timer that defaults to 30 seconds.

RSE-Devs ] it's a gauge of the player's wounded state. One shot kills are possible at any time, but if the character has taken grazing shots, these bars represent how beat up the player or character is.

RSE-Devs ] The screenshots have not had helments because they were not yet implemented. They were always planned, but we wanted to give our fans a look at the game even before they are ready. So, yes there are helments in the game and our screenshots from now on will have helments!

RSE-Devs ] the functionality is the same, but you can modify the color to what ever you want. It is going to be red by default. This will appear in future screens

RSE-Devs ] all of the single player maps will be available as coop types (16 total). We are doing 3 &quot;classic&quot; Rainbow maps and 6 maps from The Lockdown Ps2 game. These 6 maps have all been modified for the PC version.

&lt;SMS&gt; Can players climb or jump

RSE-Devs ] players can climb ladders, including a fireman slide.... we've never jumped in an r6 title yet and don't plan to start it any time soon

RSE-Devs ] yes

&lt;StAtiC&gt; What will the player speed be like? Does fast movement have a serious impact on accuracy?

RSE-Devs ] running causes decreased accuracy compared to walking. Standing still gives the highest accuracy. Zooming in on a target with a scope or sights also increases accuracy, but prevents running unless the player uses a pistol.

&lt;SODsniper&gt; Are we still on Track for a Feb 2006 Release??

Geiger ] Yes

RSE-Devs ] Not a heartbeat sensor, but we do offer other detection modes (a motion tracker, night vision, and a pda camera system allowing mercenary players to view through placed cameras.

RSE-Devs ] You can zoom in with any weapon in lockdown. You can also modify several weapons, such as adding a scope rather than using the traditional sights of the weapon.

&lt;oNe&gt; Is it going to be available &quot;running while scoped&quot; and shooting just like in Raven Shield? And if yes, will it be similar to RvS, or will it work in different way?

RSE-Devs ] you can put a scope on a number of rifles. While zoomed in with these, players can walk or lean, but not run. Using the sniper rifle (wa-2000 with digital scope) the player cannot walk or run, but can crouch or lean left and right while zoomed.

Hi Guys,

My name is Stuart White and I'm the producer for Rainbow Six: Lockdown PC. I have decided to start writing this blog to give you, the fans, an inside look at what it is like to be involved in the whirlwind we call game development.

As you might expect, we here at Red Storm have recently been swamped. With the launch of Lockdown being slated for first quarter 2006, things have been a little hectic around here. I personally just got back from a week long press tour in Europe. I visited 4 different countries and talked to a countless number of press about Lockdown. Overall, it was a very successful trip and I am sure it will be beneficial for us to get out there and let people know how excited we are about the game. When I got back, there were a ton of items on my plate. That is what being a producer is all about juggeling 15 different things even when you are in a different part of the world:.

As with all games, when it comes down close to Gold Master (when the game leaves the development studio to get published), all focus is towards bug fixing and polishing. Currently, we have 25 people dedicated to solely bug fixing. This 'bug fixing fest' usually lasts about 6-8 weeks and we've been going strong for about 3. Dinners and late nights with the team become a staple of life when the team goes into crunch. We have a good ways to go, but we are certainly making progress.

One of our main focuses of Lockdown is the AI. We want to make sure that the enemy AI is challenging and the player's team AI is intelligent and helpful, not a hindrance. Currently, we have 4 full-time engineers ensuring that our focus is translated into performance and visible results in the game. Our job as game developers is to provide the player with a fun, entertaining, and rewarding experience. The team has been pushing to implement techniques and strategies that will cause the AI to give the player this experience.

The development team has also been hard at work on localization. For those that do not know, localization is changing the game's contents to meet the language and cultural needs of a country or a region. We are getting the game ready to ship to the world including USA, Germany, France, and Spain/Mexico.

What is a gather bot?
Its a script you can use on IRC for playing mixed games. You can sign up/sign out with simple commands. You can play from 3vs3 up to 6vs6 and you can see the map you gonna play before you sign up.

You can see in what team you are but its not random teams yet..Im working on that ;)

Commands for everyone:
!add (add you in the game)
!rem (remove you from the game)
!addred (not possible yet, working on it.)
!addgreen (not possible yet, working on it.)

The rest of the commands like !server !notes !map are for OPS.

For example: if we have 6 players signed up for a 3vs3 mixed match the bot will automatic send a private message with the password in it. If you dont join the game in 10 minutes after this message we will look for someone else and replace you.

Before a mixed game will start we will send a msg on some channels. I hope we can have some mixed games now, I have no idea how much matches we can have..depends all on you.
