ok a bit more digging in the bios and i found it
IDE Channel 0 master {none}
IDE Channel 1 slave {none}
IDE Channel 1 master {sony dvd rw]
IDE Channel 1 slave [hl-dt-st gce-8481b]
IDE Channel 2 master [WDC 74]
IDE Channel 3 master [maxtor]
IDE Channel 4 master [hitachi]
IDE Channel 5 master [none]
so looks like all my HDD are set to master, should i only have 1 master and the rest slaves?

Right ok if you can't find the option in the bios then you could just physically swap the drives around on the IDE ports on the motherboard and don't forget to alter the boot ini file too.

oo fuckin jesus what a mess hahhaa aye 1 master other hd as slave.
The main HD the one you want to boot from should master and the second hd should be slave. I think. <!-- s:? --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_confused.gif" alt="" title="Confused" /><!-- s:? -->
Errr i can't figure out whats going on i need to be in physical contact to see what your describing.
So fuck it install ubuntu and that will install grub and give you a nice menu when you boot up. You never know you might like Ubuntu
