Technical Question

My pc has died....!

I was sitting on vent with the monitor in standby while working on my laptop, and the pc stopped working.....just shut down.

I switched supply back on and the breaker jumped in my fuse box, when i checked the pc the psu had blown with a musty burning smell.

The pc has not started since, the mobo lights up, the cpu fan starts, the hd makes a starting noise, but the monitor doesnt switch on and the pc seems to just sit there.

I disconnected everything except the mobo, cpu and grphx card, and it still wont start.

Any ideas? or is it a swap parts in and out kind of deal?

Hard drive died? i had some thing lie that en me hard drive was died das it make a shity sound?????

That happened to me a couple of months ago and I had to get a new motherboard. Same symptoms; CPU fan spinning, hear the HD whirring but nothing else.

I put in a new PSU as soon as it blew, put a bigger one in just in case.

I disconnected the hd's and all other sockets on mobo, so just the cpu, mobo and card, and it does diddly squat.

My vote is mobo, as apparently if you take the cpu out and start the pc the bios should start and tell you no cpu is installed?? (found that on a forum somewhere)

I dont even get the bios up, it starts the graphics card fans, the cpu fan and the case fans, but doesnt do anything past that.

Oh and no beeps from the mobo either...
