AMD and Intel both have totally different architectures and are tricky to compare and can't just go by the GHz !!

"Intel processors increases the performance and processing capacity by increasing the cache memory which is currently twelve mega byte. while AMD is increasing performance by increasing the bus speed currently the maximum bus speed allowed is 3.5ghz which they call as hyper transport technology and is available in latest AMD phenom processors. Intel core i7 which is the latest Intel processor which is better than AMD phenom processors in some characteristics and AMD is performing well in some characteristics.
