Buy the retail disc, get some multiplayer maps.

EA has made it clear that if you purchase new copies of their new titles you will get downloadable content at launch. It was true for Dragon Age: Origins, it was true in Mass Effect 2 and now it'll be true when Battlefield: Bad Company 2 drops on March 2nd.

New copies of Battlefield: Bad Company 2 will include a code to download content available only to purchasers of new retail discs. Customers will have access to an in-game store (think Mass Effect 2's Cerberus Network) that will include a handful of multiplayer maps on launch.

Patrick Bach, senior producer of Battlefield: Bad Company 2 had this to say: "We want people to insert the code they get when they buy the game to get access to [DLC content]. It's connected to your personal account, more or less, and what we want to do is give you something extra, added value, for that. In the future you will get more content, for free, if you have this VIP code."

Could be interesting...

cool

Was reading some other interesting stuff last night

They are going to make really hard to blow the m-com units up in full version..They say it will take upto 15 C4 to blow it up ..There will also be the abilty to repair the M-Com with engineer..This nulifies the recon dude rushing at start and blowing base in the first 20 secs .It also nulifies buggy bombs also ...Also server admins will have the abilty to stop damage to M-com completely so the only way to blow them is to detonate them properly or blow the building up .Which will only work on certain bases

So it will force teamwork even more so now

Also i read on their forums that they will reset all stats and levels after beta has finished
Only thing they say we will keep is our tags and names
So it looks like we will benefit now from preordering from retailers that give early unlocks

Just came across this on the forums ..Looks like they did a decent patch for this..Some performance fixes and some bug fixes..Heres a list of stuff in the patch

This update is about performance and stability again. We are not doing any changes to the game's datafiles.
Reduced input "lag"
On machines where the CPU would out-run the GPU, sometimes the GPU would queue up several frames' worth of rendering commands.
This could lead to the game having a high framerate, but input still feeling very sluggish.
Now there's a limiter on how many frames the CPU is allowed to be "ahead" of the GPU.
Control this setting via Settings.ini. Default setting: RenderAheadLimit=2

Performance optimizations with biggest improvements on dual-core machines
Fixed black "masks"
The soot on buildings with holes in them had a bugged renderpath. We switched that over to a more well-tested renderpath.
Improved hit-detection
We've gone through the hit detection logic, and client+server will now give more consistent results.
Fix for some "rubberbanding" issues
C4 should stay attached to vehicles and not rubberband around
Reduced spikes/dips in framerate
Various fixes for alt+tab related CTD on Dx9
More fixes for random CTD on Dx9
Fix for crash when you're in a vehicle that gets destroyed
There was a race condition in the code;
System 1 thought "oh hey, you're leaving vehicle X"
System 2 thought "the vehicle got destroyed, let's remove it"

If system 2 ran before system 1, chaos would ensue.
This was actually fixed in the retail version since a month, but it was only when we got detailed crash reports from the community that we understood *why* the Beta was crashing.

Likely bugs in this build
I wouldn't be surprised if it (still) has trouble remembering your settings between rounds. It would be nice to have that fixed too, but it's better to get a patch out now, and look at the settings issues afterward.

I like the hit detection fix as i have had loads of issues of shooting people and not registering the hit

Patch has made a massive difference
The game is so much smoother and runs better.
I didnt notice any really bad lag and rubberbanding
Hit recognition is spot on now
Was getting really good frame rate ..110 fps was my best ..lowest i had was about 90fps
