Help a n00b in need!! Major PC advice needed.

Well, Betsy, my dear PC, is dying. She’s been on the turn for a while and now things are looking quite terminal. Drivers and what not are leaving her and she’s losing the will to live. As a result, (and after many various attempts to save her), it looks like I’m gonna need to format the old girl. I’ve only had her for 2 years or so, so naturally I’m not too pleased with her demise but its probably my own fault anyway.

Me being a n00b when it comes to computers, I was wondering if any tech-heads out there could direct me to some step by step tutorials on how to format the beast and the best way to go about things. I know to back-up documents and that, but is there anything I should perhaps back-up that I wouldn’t otherwise think of doing (patches maybe)? Any other checklists or info I should know before pulling the plug and giving her a slap?

In the mean time, thanks W, I'll talk to you about it soon. And good advice Gony - I did read something about partitions.

I'll probably do the formatting a lot sooner then next week. I'm unsure but try and help me ASAP!!
