retraining

lokking into retraining, had enough of being a carpenter for several reasons not least that another 10 years of this and my knees will be fooked.

looked through it and ant realy got a clue, dont want to do somethiing that gonna bore the shit out of me but wanna do something thats got a decent wage.
the choices i got are

Technical and ayatems engineer
Web design and developer
Applications Programming
Database Admin
Cisco network engineer

think i like the look of apps programing but would need to be at .NET Developer level to earn a decent wage and i dont know if its gonna bore the shit outa me.
anyone know owt about this kinda stuff?

Donno what you want to know but if you want to sit on your ass all day go for
Web design and developer
Applications Programming
Database Admin
But if you want to at least get out and about and install stuff (with a certain amount of sitting on ass in front of a screen hitting F5)
Cisco network engineer and Technical and systems engineer (I'm aiming for Cisco this year, am in desktop/systems/network support role at min).
The place I work has all of the above, sit next to DB admins and they tend to be looking at code all day and some are on call if the db for the online systems goes tits up... sucks at 4am in a morning apparently (thats what they say).
App programmers are a strange bunch and take offence at the slightest remark about their programming.... only know that as i had to fix an app programmers comp other day, said it was slow and getting slow... I explain that the app he created had a memory leak and was eating up resources, thought he was going to cry!... fcuking tit!

anyway am on hardware side... if the hardware (network, desktops) don't work right then the people that are ment to write programs en shite can't do fuk all....
