Update: friends in 'the industry' tell me that Ubisoft is hanging by its fingernails (believe it or not).
The Rainblow Six-series and Splinter Cell, as I understand it, are some of the last "hopes" for Ubisoft to make some major money to appease shareholders who are really impatient with the company and who'd rather sell it today to Atari/Infogrames or EA for a big pile of money.
But of course, those two companies are waiting for Ubisoft to go tits-up, so that they can scoop up the rights to some big titles for just a penny.
Hence why Ubi is 'toning down' the Rainbow Six, Splinter Cell and Ghost Recon-series down to n00b dumbass console level-crap so as to attract as many gamers as possible, not just hardcore tactical wargame-grunts like us. There simply are too few of us, apparently...
Best news i've heard in a long time....
I hope UBI crash and burn and Sierra, makers of SWAT series, get there hands on the
whole Tom Clancy franchise....
